CorrectwiringiscrucialfortheoperationalperformanceoftheEK80.
Allcablesrunningbetweensystemcabinetslocatedindifferentroomsand/orondifferent
decksmustbesupportedandprotectedalongtheirentirelengthsusingconduitsand/or
cabletrays.Notethatthecablesmustnotbeinstalledinthevicinityofhigh-power
suppliesandcables,antennacablesorotherpossiblesourcesofinterference.
Alltransducercablesmustberuninsteelconduits.

Compassdeviationrequirements
EK80unitsthatareinstalledonthebridgemayhaveaneffectonthecompass.
Oncetheinstallationiscomplete,thevesselmustbeswungwiththeEK80inboth
operativeandinoperativemodes.Theshipownerandcaptainareresponsiblefor
updatingthecompassdeviationtableaccordinglywithregardtothevessel’snational
registryandcorrespondingmaritimeauthority.

Noisesources
TheoperationalperformanceoftheEK80Widebandscienticechosounderdependson
thenoiseconditions.Itisessentialthatthenoisesignatureisaslowaspossible.
Vesselnoise
Thevessel’shull,rudder(s)andpropeller(s)mustbethoroughlyinspectedindrydock
priortoinstallation.
Roughnessbelowthewater-linedeformitiesintheshellplatingandprotrudingobstacles
cancreateunderwaternoise.Thesesourcesofturbulencemustbesmoothedorremoved
asbestaspossible.

Itisespeciallyimportantthatthepropeller(s)arenotpittedordamaged.
