Duetoitsmodulardesign,theEK80systemcanbesetupinavarietyofcongurations
tosuitindividualneedsforoperationalfrequencies,transducersandfunctionality.Itis
notpracticaltodenespeciccableplansforallthesecongurations.
Toillustratethevarietyofcongurations,thefollowingbasiccableplansareprovided.
•StandardtopsidesetupwiththeProcessorUnit
•StandardtransceiversetupwithoneWideBandTransceiver(WBT)unit.
•StandardtransceiversetupwithtwoWideBandTransceiver(WBT)units.
•StandardtransceiversetupwithaWBTCabinet.
•StandardtransceiversetupwithEC150-3CunitsforacousticDopplercurrentproler
(ADCP)functionality.
TheWideBandTransceiver(WBT)usedbytheSimradEK80canbesetuptoworkwith
maximumfour-4-operationalfrequencies.Thismeansthatyoucanusefoursingle
frequency/singlebeamtransducers,twodualfrequencytransducers,oronesplitbeam
transducer.
InordertotakeadvantageoftheadvancedfunctionalityprovidedbytheEK80(size
distribution,shpositionandechoposition),itisnormallysetupwithsplitbeam
transducers.ThismeansthatoneWideBandTransceiver(WBT)isrequiredforeach
channel.Inthiscontext,thephrasechannelisusedasacommontermtoidentifythe
combinationoftransceiver,transducerandoperatingfrequency.
