What each button does
LOCATE button
Thisbuttoninstantlymovestheplaybackpositionof
thesongtoapreviouslyspecifiedlocation.Bydefault,
thislocationwillbethefirstbeatofmeasure1.
Tosetthecurrentplaybackpositionasthislocation,
holddowntheWRITEbuttonandpresstheLOCATE
button.
Alternatively,youcanusethesongcommand
“LocationPoint”todirectlyspecifythelocation.
REC button
Whenyoupressthisbutton,themicroSTATIONwill
enterrecord‐readymode.Fromrecord‐readymode
(thebuttonwilllight‐up),presstheStart/Stopbutton
tobeginrecording(p. 34“Let’stryrecor ding”).
KEY (REMOVE) button
Normallyineachmode,youcanspecifyanote
numberbyholdingdownthisbuttonandpressinga
key.
Duringlooprecording,thisbuttonoperatesasthe
Remove(delete)button.Ifyouholddownthisbutton
andpressakey,notescorrespondingtothatkeywill
bedeleted.Ifyouholddownthisbuttonandpressthe
RECbutton,alleventswillbedel
eted.
WA
(Start/Stop) button
Thisbuttonstarts/stopsrecordingorplayback.
(REW) button
Whenthesongisplayingorpaused,pressingthis
buttonwillrewindthesong.Ifyouholddownthis
button,thebuttonwilllight‐up,andthesongwill
rewindwhileplaying.(Thisdoesnotworkduring
recordingorwhilethesongisstopped.)
Note: Youcanusethesongcommand“FF/REW
Speed”tospecifytherewindandfast‐forwardspeed.
(FF) button
Whenthesongisplayingorpaused,pressingthis
buttonwillfast‐forwardthesong.Ifyouholddown
thisbutton,thebuttonwilllight‐up,andthesongwill
fast‐forwardwhileplaying.(Thisdoesnotwork
duringrecordingorwhilethesongisstopped.)
D
(Pause) button
Thisbuttonpausessongplayback.Whilepaused,the
buttonwilllight‐up.Whenyoupressthebuttononce
againtocancelpauseandresumesongplayback,the
buttonwillturnoff.
LOOP button
Whenyoupressthisbutton,playbackorrecording
willloopaccordingtotheloopparametersettings.
TheLoopfunctionwillturnon/offeachtimeyoupress
thebutton.WhenyouturntheLoopfunctionoff,the
recordingmodewillreturntoitsprevioussetting.
Youcan’tturntheLoopfunctiononduringmulti‐
trackrecording.
PLAY/MUTE button
Whenyoupressthisbutton(theLEDattheupperleft
ofthebuttonwilllight‐up),youcanusethefunction
buttons01–16locatedattherighttocontroltheplay/
mutestatusofeachtrack.
GRID SEQ button
Whenyoupressthisbutton(theLEDattheupperleft
ofthebuttonandtheLEDattheleftofthefunction
LEDswilllight‐up),theGridSequencefunctionwill
turnon,allowingyoutocreatedrumpatternsbyusing
thefunction01–16buttonsandLEDs1–16locatedat
theright.
TheLoopfunctionwillturnonautomatically.
NUM LOCK button
Whenyoupressthisbutton(theLEDattheupperleft
ofthebuttonwilllight‐up),thefunction01–16buttons
attherightwilloperateasnumerickeys,CLEAR,
ENTER,GROUPDOWN,andGROUPUP.
Whenthethreefunctionsareoff(LEDoff),the
function01–16buttonsareusedtoselecttracks.

DependingonthestateofthePLAY/MUTE,GRID
SEQ,andNUMLOCKbuttons,thesesixteenbuttons
canbeusedtoselecttracks,switchtheplay/mute
status,usethegridsequencefunction,orasnumeric
keys.
TIMBRE/TRACK LED
Thiswilllight‐upwhenthefunction01–16buttonsand
LEDscanbeusedtoselecttimbresortracks.
GRID SEQ LED
ThiswilllightinSequencermodewhenyoupressthe
GRIDSEQbuttontoturnontheGridSequence
function.
