Effect settings for a
combination or song
InCombinationandSequencermodes,youcanspecify
howeachtimbreortrackisroutedtotheinserteffects,
mastereffects,andtotaleffects.Theprocedurefor
adjustingsettingsissimilarineachmode.Here,we’ll
explaintheprocedureforCombinationmode.
Routing
Wellexplainhowtosendtheoutputoftimbre1to
inserteffect1,andthenmakesettingsforinserteffect1.
1. InCOMBIEDIT:Timbres‐Timbre01,set“Bus”
tospecifythebuswheretheoutputoftimbre1
willbesent.Inthisexample,selectIFX1sothat
thetimbre’soutputwillbeinputtoinserteffect1.
Ifyouwanttosendatimbre’soutputtoamaster
effectwithoutsendingittoaninserteffect,usethe
“Send1”or“Sen
d2”settingsofthattimbreto
specifythesendlevelstothemastereffects.
Thissettingisavailableonlyif“Bus”issettoL/Ror
Off.
Note: Theactualsendlevelisdeterminedby
multiplyingthissettingwiththe“Send1”or
“Send2”valueofoscillators1and2intheprogram
selec
tedbythetimbre.Iftheprogram’s“Send1”or
“Send2”settingis0,theactuallevelwillbe0evenif
youraisethesendlevelsettinghere.
If“Bus”issettoIFX1–IFX5,the“Send1”and
“Send2”(IFX1–IFX5)settingsfollowingtheinsert
effectwilldetermine
thesendlevelstothemaster
effects.
2. “FXCtrlBus”sendsthetimbre’soutputtotheFX
controlbus.Usethiswhenyouwanttousea
differentsoundtocontroltheinputtoaneffect.
YoucanusethetwoFXcontrolbusestocontrol
effectswithagreatdealofflexibility

Insert effects
1. AccessCOMBIEDIT:IFX1,andpressthe
button.
ThefirstpageofIFX1istheinserteffect1selection
screen(“IFXSelect”).
Pressthebuttononceagain,andthenusethe

buttonstoselecttheeffecttypeforinserteffect1.
2. Inthesamewayasforaprogram’sinserteffects,
specifytheeffect’son/offstatusandconnections.
3. Inthesamewayasforaprogram’sinserteffects,
use“Pan(CC#8),”“Bus,”“FXCtrlBus,”“Send1,”
and“Send2”tospecifythepanandrouting
followingtheinserteffect.
4. UsethepageslocatedattherightofCOMBIEDIT:
IFX1“IFXSelect”toedittheeffectparametersof
inserteffect1.
Youcanadjusttheseset
tingsinthesamewayasfor
aprogram(p. 47).
YoucanuseMIDItocontroleacheffect’sdynamic
modulation(Dmod)andthe“P an(CC#8),”
“Send1,”and“Send2”following theinserteffect.
ThesesettingsarecontrolledontheMIDIchannel
spe
cifiedby“CtrlCh.”
Fortimbresthatareroutedto aninserteffect,
a“* symbolisshownattheright ofthechannel
numberCh01–16.Ifmultipletimbreswit h
differingMIDIchannelsettingsarerouted,you
canspecifyherethechannelonwh
ichcontrolwill
occur.
Master effects

Youcanmakethesesettingsinthesamewayasfora
program(p. 48).
Dynamicmodulation(Dmod)forthemaster
effectsandto taleffectcan becontrolledonthe
MIDIchannelspecifiedby“CtrlCh.”

Dynamicmodulation(Dmod)letsyouuseMIDI
messagesorthemicroSTATION’scontrollersfor
realtimecontrolofspecificeffectparameters.
Anotherwaytocontroleffectparametersistouse
MIDI/TempoSync,whichallowstheLFOspeedofa
modulationeffectorthedelaytimeofadelayeffectto
besynchronizedtothetempoofthearpeggiatoror
sequencer.
