Saving to media (Media–Save)

SongdatainthemicroSTATION’sSequencermode
cannotbewrittenintointernalmemory.Thisdata
willdisappearwhenthepow eristurnedoff.In
ordertokeepthisdata,youmustwriteittoth
eSD
card(commerciallyavailable).Whenyou’vecome
upwithsettingsthatyoulike,it’sagoodideato
savethem,sothat evenifyousubsequentlyedit
thosesettings,you’llalwaysbeabletoreloadthe
previoussettingsifdesired.
Types of media you can use
– SD card specifications
MSDOSformatFA T16orFAT32aresupported.
Capacityrecognized:FAT16:2Gigabytes(GB)
SDHCmemorycardsaresupported.
Mediaisnotincluded.Youwillneedtopurchaseit
separately.
Inserting/removing a card in the SD card slot
Ifyou’veplacedanSDcardintheSDcardslot,you
canuseittosaveorloadvarioustypesofProgram,
Combination,andSongdata.
Inserting a card
•InsertanSDcardintheSDcardslot.
Withthecardlabelfacingupward,insertthe
connectorendofthecardintotheSDcardsl
otand
pressitinuntilyouhearaclick.
Makesurethatthecardisori entedcorrectlywhen
youinsertit.Forcingitin thewr ongdirectionmay
damagetheslotorthecard,andthedatamaybe
lost.
Removing a card
Neverremovean SDcardfromtheslot while
loading,saving,orformattingisinprogress.
•Remo
vethecardfromtheSDcardslot.
Pressthecardinward;youwillhearaclick,andthe
cardwillpopoutpartway,allowingyoutopullit
completelyout.
Refertotheoperationguideincludedwithyour
card,andobservetheguidelinesforhandlingand
use.
Saving
Selecttheappropriatepageforthedatathatyouwant
tosavetomedia.
Fordetailsonsaving,pleaserefertoPGp. 69“Save
All”andfollowing.
Cautions when saving
•WhenyouformatmediaonthemicroSTATION,or
executeaSaveoperationforthefirsttime,a
directorynamedKorg/MICRO_STwill
automaticallybecreatedintherootdirectory.When
yousavedata,anautomaticallynamedfilewillbe
createdbelowthatdirectory.
Whensaving,thedatawillautomaticallybe
assignedafilenameextensionof“.PCG,”“.SNG,”
or“.MID”etc.accordingtoitstype.Pleasenotethat
ifyouuseyourcomputertochangethisextension,
itwillbeconsideredanundefinedfilewhenyou
attempttoloaditintothemicroSTATION,andwill
behandledasaStandardMIDIFile.
Saving in the editor
The “Save” utility command
InthemicroSTATIONEditor/PlugInEditor,clickthe
UTILITYbutton,andchoose“Savefromthemenu
thatappears;thisletsyousavetheeditorssettingsasa
dedicatedmicroSTATIONEditor/PlugInEditorfileon
yourcomputer
The “Export” utility command
InthemicroSTATIONEditor/PlugInEditor,clickthe
UTILITYbutton,andchoose“Export”fromthemenu
thatappears;thisletsyousavetheeditorssettingsasa
microSTATION.PCGfileonyourcomputer.

preload data and demo songs)
Youcanreloadthepreloaddatafromtheincluded
accessorydisc,aswellasthedemosongdatathat’sin
themicroSTATION’sinternalmemory.
