MIDI-related settings
MIDI channel setting
In order to exchange data with a connected external MIDI device, you must set the
RK-100S’s MIDI channel to match the MIDI channel of the external MIDI device.
Specify the MIDI channel using the following procedure:
1. Hold down the SHIFT button and press the favorites C button.
The number of the Global MIDI channel appears in the display.
2.
Use the OCTAVE +/- buttons or the SOUND lever to specify the Global MIDI
channel.
3. Press the SHIFT button to exit the shift function.
4. Set the MIDI channel of the connected external MIDI device.
Note: For details on how to set the MIDI channel of the external MIDI device,
refer to the owners manual of the connected device.
Using the RK-100S as a multi-timbral sound module
The MIDI channels for RK-100S’s two timbres can be specied so that it can be
used as a multi-timbral sound module with, for example, sequencer soware on
the connected computer.
1. Set VOICE “Voice Mode to MULTI.
2. Use TIMBRE 2 MIDI CH” to set the MIDI channel for timbre 2.
3.
Use the RK-100S to set the global MIDI channel, which will be the MIDI channel
for timbre 1 (see “MIDI channel setting”).
4. Use sequencer software on the connected computer, for example, to set the
MIDI channel.
GLOBAL “POSITION” setting
The RK-100S’s GLOBAL “Position” lets you specify how MIDI IN/OUT will
be internally routed. This will aect how the MIDI data will be aected by the
“Transpose,” “Velocity Curve,” and arpeggiator seings.
Normally when controlling an external MIDI tone generator from the RK-100S,
you will set “Position” to POST KBD. The various seings listed above will
aect the MIDI data that is transmied. The received data will be processed as
“Transpose”: 0, “Velocity Curve”: Curve 4.
Normally when controlling the RK-100S’s tone generator from an external MIDI
device, you will set “Position” to PRE TG. The various seings listed above will
aect the MIDI data that is received. The transmied data will be processed as
“Transpose”: 0 and “Velocity Curve”: Curve 4.
MIDI FILTER settings
The MIDI FILTER seing species whether program change, pitch bend, and
control change will be transmied or received (see page 35 “MIDI FILTER”).
Virtual patch modulation source settings
You can assign three dierent MIDI control messages (MIDI Control 1, 2, 3) as
virtual patch modulation sources. Make the desired assignments in the GLOBAL
MIDI section “MIDI Control 1,”“MIDI Control 2,”and“MIDI Control 3”(see page
34), and then select MIDI Control 1, MIDI Control 2, or MIDI Control 3 as the
virtual patch source for the virtual patch seings (PATCH1–PATCH5). This lets
you control modulation via MIDI.
The modulation source “FC MOD Source”of the cuto frequency of the vocoders
carrier band-pass lters can also be controlled via MIDI; simply select MIDI Control
1, MIDI Control 2, or MIDI Control 3 as the virtual patch modulation source.
CONTROL CHANGE” settings
You can assign control change numbers to the major parameters that aect the
sound, and use an external MIDI device to perform the same operations as
when the ribbon controllers and buons of the RK-100S are used. Conversely,
you can use the RK-100S’s ribbon controllers and buons to control an external
MIDI device. Use the GLOBAL CC # MAP to assign control change messages to
parameters (see page 36 “CC # MAP”).
