RK-100S parameter guide
MIDI “LOCAL setting when connecting a computer
If the RK-100S is connected to a computer, and the Echo Back seing of the
computer is turned on while the RK-100S’s Local Control seing is also on, the
performance data generated when you play the RK-100S’s keyboard will be
sent to the computer, and will also be echoed-back to sound the RK-100S’s tone
generator a second time. To prevent each note from being sounded twice, once
directly from the keyboard and once from the echoed-back note, you must turn
the RK-100S’s Local Control seing o (see page 34 “Local Control”).
Recording the MIDI output from the RK-100S’s arpeggiator
onto an external MIDI sequencer or computer
Connect and setting
Connect the RK-100S’s USB connector to the MIDI IN connector of your computer.
Then turn the RK-100S’s Local Control o (GLOBAL MIDI “Local Control”: O),
and turn on the echo back seing of your computer.
Recording the note data from the arpeggiator onto a computer
Set the GLOBAL “Position” to POST KBD. Turn on the RK-100S’s arpeggiator
(ARP buon lit up), play the keyboard, and then record the performance with,
for example, sequencer soware on the your computer.
If the GLOBAL page “Position” is set to POST KBD, the MIDI note data produced
by the arpeggiator will be output from the RK-100S, and recorded. Turn the
RK-100S’s arpeggiator o during playback.
Synchronizing the arpeggiator
For information on synchronization-related seings of your external MIDI device,
refer to the manual of your device.
Using the RK-100S as master and the external MIDI device as slave. Connect the
RK-100S’s MIDI OUT connector to your external MIDI device’s MIDI IN connector.
Set your external MIDI device to receive incoming MIDI clock messages. The
external MIDI device (e.g., sequencer or rhythm machine) will function at the
tempo specied by the RK-100S’s TAP buon.
MIDI messages
MIDI channels
MIDI uses sixteen channels (1–16), and MIDI messages will be transmied
and received if the channel of the receiving device matches the channel of the
transmiing device. This seing will aect the way that channels are handled.
If Voice Mode” is SINGLE, LAYER, or SPLIT
If the VOICE “Voice Mode” seing is SINGLE, LAYER, or SPLIT, MIDI data is
transmied/received on the global MIDI channel.
If Voice Mode” is Multi
If the VOICE “Voice Mode” seing is MULTI, MIDI data for timbre 1 is transmied/
received on the global MIDI channel. MIDI data for timbre 2 is transmied/
received on the MIDI channel specied by the VOICE “TIMBRE 2 MIDI CH”
seing. Other transmission/reception uses the global MIDI channel.
Note: The global MIDI channel is the basic MIDI channel used by the RK-100S
to transmit and receive MIDI data. Use the RK-100S to specify the set-
ting (see page 57 “MIDI channel seing”).
Note-on/o
Note-on [9n, kk, vv], Note-o [8n, kk, vv]
(n: channel, kk: note number, vv: velocity)
When you play the keyboard or long ribgon controller of the RK-100S, note-on/
o messages are transmied. When the RK-100S receives a note-on message, its
internal sound generator will produce sound corresponding to the note number
and velocity of that note-on.
The RK-100S does not support note-o velocity. All note-o messages it
transmits are sent with a xed velocity value of 64, and any note-o velocity
value it receives will be ignored.
If the GLOBAL “Position” (see page 33) is Post KBD, note-on/o messages will
be transmied by the arpeggiator when it is running.
