•  If the server is installed in a rack, slide the server out on its rack slide rails to gain access to the top cover, 
or remove the server from the rack. See “Remove the server from rack” on page 124.

Procedure
Step 1.  Remove the top cover. 
a. 
Press the release button on the top cover latch.
b. 
Rotate the latch until the latch is fully open and the top cover is disengaged from the 
chassis.
c. 
Lift up the top cover from the chassis, and place it on a flat clean surface. 
Attention: 
•  Service label is located on the inside of the top cover.
•  For proper cooling and air flow, install the top cover before you power on the server. 
Operating the server with the top cover removed might damage server components.
