1. SXM GPU Model only: Reinstall the SXM GPU power distribution board and connect the sideband
cable between the power distribution board and the SXM GPU power distribution board. See “Install the
SXM GPU power distribution board” on page 314.
2. Reinstall the power supply units. See “Install a power supply unit” on page 198.
3. Complete the parts replacement. See “Complete the parts replacement” on page 328.

About this task
Attention:
Read “Installation Guidelines” on page 121 and “Safety inspection checklist” on page 122 to ensure that
you work safely.
Power off the server and peripheral devices and disconnect the power cords and all external cables. See
“Power off the server” on page 14.
If the server is installed in a rack, slide the server out on its rack slide rails to gain access to the top cover,
or remove the server from the rack. See “Remove the server from rack” on page 124.
Make sure you have a power supply unit filler available if some PSU bays will be left empty after the
removal.

Procedure
Step 1. Remove the power supply unit.
a.
Press and hold the orange release tab.
b.
Grasp the handle, and pull the power supply unit out of the server.
Important: During normal operation, each power supply bay must contain either a power
supply unit or a power supply filler for proper cooling.
