6.9.9 Primary and secondary fuel filters water separators drain (9)
WARNING
Fuel leaked or spilled onto hot surfaces or electrical components can
cause a fire. To help prevent possible injury, turn the main power switch
OFF when changing fuel filters or water separator elements.
Clean up fuel spills immediately.

Secondary fuel filter draining:
Place a suitable container below filter. Open drain valve (1) and allow fluid to drain.
Close drain valve (1) hand tight as soon as all water is drained and plain fuel begins to flow.
Dispose of the drained fluid correctly.
NOTE
The water separator separates water from the fuel. The engine should never
be allowed to run with the water separator more than half full. Engine
damage may result.
Primary fuel filter draining:
Open drain valve (2). Catch the draining fluid in a suitable container.
Close drain valve (2) hand tight as soon as all water is drained and plain fuel begins to flow.
Dispose of the drained fluid correctly.
6.9.10 Inspection of the Engine Compartment (10)
When the time is taken to perform these checks, costly repair and accidents can be avoided. For maximum engine
service life, make a thorough inspection of the engine compartment before starting the engine.
Inspect the Engine for leaks and for loose connections.
Look for items such as:
• fuel leaks
• oil leaks
coolant leaks
loose bolts
worn belts
loose connections
debris build-up
