6.17.2 Water Pump inspect (48)
A failed water pump may cause severe engine overheating problems that could result in the following conditions:
• cracks in the cylinder head
• a piston seizure
• other potential damage to the engine
NOTE
The water pump seal is lubricated by the coolant in the cooling system. It is
normal for a small amount of leakage to occur as the engine cools down
and parts contract.
Visually inspect the water pump for leaks. Renew the water pump seal or the water pump if there is an excessive
leakage of coolant.
