Fuel leaked or spilled onto hot surfaces or electrical components can
cause a fire. To help prevent possible injury, turn the main power switch
OFF when changing fuel filters or water separator elements.
Clean up fuel spills immediately.

Secondary fuel filter element (6051290496) replacement:
► Place a suitable container under the fuel filter in order to catch any fuel that might spill. Clean up any spilled fuel.
Clean the outside body of the filter assembly.
► Open the drain valve (6) and if necessary open vent screw (1). Allow the fuel drain from the filter. Tighten vent screw
(1) to a torque of 24 Nm (212 lb in) and close drain valve (6).
► Remove the filter bowl (5) from the filter base (2) with a suitable strap wrench.
► Remove and discard the filter element (3). Remove O ring seal (4) from filter bowl (5). Discard the old O ring seal.
► Ensure that the filter bowl (5) is clean and free from dirt.
► Install new filter element (3) (6051290496) into filter base (2).
► Install new O ring seal (4) to filter bowl (5). Install filter bowl (5) hand tight to filter base (2). Do not use a tool to install
the filter assembly!
► Remove the container and dispose of the fuel in a safe place.
The primary filter element (LMPE130306360) must be replaced at same time
as the secondary filter element (6051290496). Refer to 6.13.2 on page 83.
