Figure 2-12: Elements on the IOCN
‘RS’ connector (6P6C (RJ11/RJ25)) for secondary serial
connection, used for Modbus RTU communications.
Supports RS-232 or RS-485 (2-wire or 4-wire) communications
(selectable by jumpers on the CPUM card).
‘A’ serial connectors (6P6C (RJ11/RJ25))
used for Modbus RTU communications – Group A.
Supports RS-485 (2-wire or 4-wire) communications.
Note: If no optional serial communications module is
fitted to the CPUM card, jumpers J20 to J24 on the IOCN
card can be set to link these two connectors to the
‘RS’ connector described above.
‘B’ serial connectors (6P6C (RJ11/RJ25))
used for Modbus RTU communications – Group B.
Supports RS-485 (2-wire or 4-wire) communications.
‘1’ Ethernet connector (8P8C (RJ45)) for primary Ethernet
connection, used for VM600 rack configuration and
communications, and Modbus TCP communications.
Note: The primary Ethernet connection can be routed to
either the ‘NET’ connector (CPUM card) or the ‘1’
connector (IOCN card).
‘2’ Ethernet connector (8P8C (RJ45)) for secondary
Ethernet connection, used for redundant Modbus TCP
communications.
Note: The optional serial
communications module must be
fitted to the CPUM card in order to
use the additional ‘A’ and ‘B’ serial
connections.
(One module supports all four
connectors.)
