SECTION 6: T200 FUNCTIONAL OVERVIEW T200 User's Manual
PAGE 6-79
6.14 Parameter Storage
The T200 provides non-volatile storage for user-programmable parameters in both its internal Flash, and via the
Personality Plug module.
Parameter Storage and initialisation
There are four user-configuration data storage locations of significance to the user.
1. T200 Flash database (non-volatile storage):- The T200 internal non-volatile Flash provides storage for all user
parameters and for the POINT application program. The T200 draws its parameter set from internal Flash when no
Personality Plug is connected to the serial port J4.
2. T200 Personality Plug Database:- The Personality Plug provides an additional storage facility. If a T200 powers
up or resets up, and the module is detected, then the personality module database will take priority over that of the
internal database. The contents of the internal Flash databse will automatically get overwritten with the Personality
Plug database.
3. T200 RAM Database:- The RAM database is the operational database for all online database operations. All
parameters are transferred from non-volatile storage to RAM (during power up and reset) and from RAM to non-
volatile storage (during parameter save). The T200 operates only with the data from the RAM database.
4. PC-based .log files:- User parameters sets are stored in ASCII .log files which can be inspected using standard
ASCII text editors.
All T200 parameter transactions take place via the RAM Database. For example, it is not possible to alter the Flash
database without altering the RAM database. Download of a PC-based .log file will only update the RAM database. An
explicit command to save the RAM database to the Flash and personality plug databases has to be given in order to save
the RAM parameters to non-volatile storage.
