SECTION 10: TROUBLE-SHOOTING GUIDE T200 User's Manual
PAGE 10-25
10.5.11 Warning Type: Dot (Thermal Limit Warning) on 7-segment Display
The Dot warning is displayed when the T200 current demand exceeds the thermal current limit that was derived from a
variety of sources. The T200 can generate torque in the motor when Dot is present.
Table 24: Causes of Dot on 7-segment Display
Cause Check/[Correction]
Motor 'Thermistor-
Present' Parameter
Incorrectly
Configured
The T200 has been configured for a non-Moog motor. The user must tell the T200 if the
motor uses a Negative Temperature Coefficient (NTC) Thermistor. This parameter may
have been mis-configured.
[Using the 'SNM' command on the Hand Held Terminal, to change the polarity of the
Motor-Thermistor Present flag. Alternatively via the Win-Drive motor icon, non-standard
motor entry, change the polarity of the Motor-Thermistor tick box.]
Motor Thermally
Limited
Check Fault Type: F6 (Motor Over-Temperature) on 7-Segment Display, for possible
sources of thermal limiting due to the motor.
Power Amplifier
Thermally Limited
Check Fault Type: F5 (Power Amplifier Over-temperature) on 7-segment Display, for
possible sources of power amplifier thermal limiting.
R.M.S. Current Level
exceeded
The T200 provides self protection for connectors and other internal devices (See Section 6,
Cabling and Interconnect Protection Scheme for an explanation).
[See Excessive Load, Movement Duty Cycle is Excessive under Section Warning Type:
U6 (External Regen Resistor Warning) on 7-segment Display.]
External
Regeneration
Resistor Continuous
Rating Exceeded
The T200 monitors the external regeneration resistor load cycle to check if its continuous
rating is exceeded. Check using the Hand Held Terminal's ?LRR command what is the
average power dissipation in the external resistor. Compare this number against the ratings
provided in Section 3.
[Decrease the duty cycle, by reduction of the acceleration and deceleration, and/or the
frequency of the movement.]
Movement Duty
Cycle Excessive
The acceleration and deceleration of the movement, as well as the frequency of movement
may be excessive for the motor.
[Decrease the duty cycle, by reduction of the acceleration and deceleration, and/or the
frequency of the movement.]
Motor Undersized
The motor is not rated to handle the current duty cycle required by the application. Use the
?LMR Hand Held terminal command to measure the motor phase r.m.s. current. Check if
this is very near the rating of the motor.
[Install a motor with a high current rating if this is suitable for the application.]
