When WinDrive is started, the user is first prompted to select from
one of 4 possible Comm -Ports on the PC in order to set WinDrive
in On-line mode with the drive, or alternatively to operate the GUI
in Off-line mode.
• If one of the Comm-Ports is selected, the user is prompted to
select the Recommended Standard (RS) type, as either RS232
or RS485. The Comm-Port configuration is fixed to match the
serial requirements of a drive and operates always at
• 9600 Baud, with
• No parity,
• 8 Data bits and
• 1 Stop Bit.
• If RS485 is selected the user is also prompted to
select the RS485 Axis Address.
• If Off-line is selected, the user is prompted to select from one
of the three supported drives (T161 RMC, T164 DMC or
T200).
NOTE - If the wrong communications port is selected, WinDrive will time-out after several
seconds and display an error message box asking if off-line operation is required. This time-out
will take approximately 20seconds, as 4 attempts to communicate are made, each lasting 5
seconds.
NOTE on Communications Robustness between WinDrive and T200.
MOOG has made the communication between WinDrive and T200 as robust as possible by
implementation of message error checking, and message-retransmission upon errors, as well as message
time-out checking. Due to the wide variation in operating conditions under different versions of Windows
and PC configurations, the user may experience occasional difficulties in establishing secure
communications.
In particular, to re-establish communications after power has been removed from a T200, ensure that the
WinDrive time-out message has appeared before re-applying power to the T200. If this is not done, then
the user may experience intermittent Windows General Protection faults. If such an error occurs, the user
should remove all power from the T200, re-apply power, then wait until the T200 has completed self-
initialisation, before resetting communications from WinDrive.
