DS2000 System Installation
NEC America DS1000/2000 Workbook 91
Punch down the extension cables.
Each extension uses 1-pair wiring from the modular jack to the 66 block.
From the 66 block to the system, the Installation Cables have 6 8-pin jacks
installed on one end and are unterminated on the other. Each 8-pin jack
connects 4 extensions or 4 trunks.
1. Using the NEC Installation Cable (P/N 80892) for each 66M1-50 block,
punch down the Installation Cable in standard color-code order.
When using your own cable, for each digital extension, run one-pair 24
AWG station cable from the station block to the 8-pin jack. Remember
that each 8-pin jack connects 4 extensions to the station card so 4 pairs
should be connected to the 8-pin jack.
See the “Connect the 8-pin modular jacks to the PCBs”
section (page 35) for pinout information.
2. For each extension, run one-pair wiring between the pins on the station
block and the cross-connect block. From the cross-connect block, run 24
AWG station cable to the modular jack for the phone.
3. After you have punched down your cables, route them through the side
of the cabinet and secure them with the strain relief.
