2. Remove transaxle (See Transaxle Removal, page
6.4).
3. Remove speed sensor (A) (removal is required only
for sensor service, not for cover removal) and all
cover bolts (B). Tap cover evenly at projections on
cover (C) to loosen sealant bond. Remove cover
straight outward.
CAUTION
Do not pry on case sealing surfaces.
Tap only in reinforced areas on the cover.
4. Remove motor shaft assembly.
5. Remove intermediate shaft.
6. Remove (4) screws (D) from bearing retainer plate
using the access holes provided in the gear, then
remove pinion shaft assembly.
