Password Levels
Parameters, options, commissioning values, and curves are assigned a privilege level. While these can always be viewed,
regardless of password level, to modify these features, the user must be logged on with the same or higher password level. The
required password level for each feature is described in the appropriate section of the manual. The privilege levels are as follows:
Operator – This is the lowest security level. If the end user wants to disable the operator password, it can be set to 0 or 9999.
It is set to 9999 (disabled) at the factory.
Technician – This security level is intended for combustion technicians that have been trained on the proper FlexFit operating,
conguration, options, and commissioning techniques. Access is granted to functions and parameters required to commission fuel/
air curves, operational tuning, and servo conguration. This password level cannot be disabled.
Engineer – This security level is intended for combustion engineers that have the experience and training required to design
combustion equipment and control systems. In addition, users of this password level must have the knowledge and experience to
interpret and implement safe combustion systems based on UL372, CSD-1, NFPA-85, IRI, and other appropriate safety codes. This
password level cannot be disabled.
Restricted – While not a password level, this designation denotes parameters that can only be changed when the ame safe-
guard is in standby or lockout. These parameters cannot be changed during burner operation at any password level.
Obtaining a Temporary Password
To obtain a temporary password for the FlexFit, navigate to Main Menu > Utilities > Date/Time and S/N, and record the date,
time, and serial number exactly as it appears. Do not update or change anything yet! Once you have this information, contact Preferred
Instruments at (203) 743-6741, a Preferred Instruments Regional Sales Manager, or your local authorized Preferred Instruments factory
representative, and they will issue you a temporary password that is valid for 6 hours. Enter the temporary password into the FlexFit
and assign new passwords for each security level specic to your application. Store these passwords in a convenient notebook in a
secure location to prevent unauthorized access. If these passwords are lost, you will need to obtain another temporary password.
Once you have created permanent passwords, you may now make changes to the date and time if desired.
To enter a password, navigate to Main Menu > Password > Enter Password, place the password in the middle of the LCD into
edit mode, use the UP and DOWN arrows to change the value, and press ENTER to enter the password. If successful, the new
password level will be displayed at the bottom of the LCD.
To change a password, you must rst be logged in with the same or higher password level. Navigate to Main Menu > Password
> Change Password, select the password level you wish to change, edit the password, and press ENTER to store the new password.
Success or failure will be displayed at the bottom of the LCD.
To log out, navigate to Main Menu > Password > Log Out and the current user will be logged out. Additionally, the user will
automatically be logged out after 6 hours or after cycling power to the FlexFit.
Utilities
Date/Time and S/N
To view/change the FlexFit's date & time, navigate to Main Menu > Utilities > Date/Time and S/N. The MM/DD/YYYY and
HH:MM can individually be selected and changed. The device serial number, which cannot be changed, is also viewed on this screen.
I/O Data Display
Each input and output connected to the FlexFit can be seen from this sub-menu. Inputs are what the FlexFit is receiving – not
necessarily what the eld device is outputting. Outputs are what the FlexFit is sending – not necessarily what the eld device is
getting. If there are discrepancies, verify proper wiring.
Cycle Statistics
You may see how many times the FlexFit has started the burner and how many total burner run minutes.
Oxygen Cell Status
You may view the % oxygen, mV, ohms, ue temp, and O
2
sensor error messages here.
Oxygen Calibration
See section "ZP Oxygen Sensor Calibration" on page 2-37, for instructions on calibration.
Software Versions
The software for the various functions in the FlexFit and the servos may be viewed from this sub-menu. Select the text next to
"Chip:" to cycle through the various functions.
WARNING
Entering a password and
changing parameters by
unauthorized or inexperi-
enced personnel may lead
to equipment damage,
personal injury, or death.
It is the responsibility of
the equipment owner and
user to keep proper control
of passwords and users.
Note
Do not change the date or
time until after obtaining
and entering a temporary
password and assigning
a permanent password;
doing so will delay the
ability to enter temporary
passwords for 6 hours.
Note
Do not change the
time or date until a
permanent password
has been created.
