Ensure the Servo position in degrees (Pxx.x) display is within +/- 5 degrees of the actual position.
If the displayed position is negative (i.e. "P-45.0"): The wrong "Closed" direction button (CW or CCW) was pressed
during the ZERO procedure. Repeat the ZERO procedure.
Now that the parameters are congured and the servos are set up, the FlexFit is ready to be commissioned.
Commission Mode
When the FlexFit is rst installed, there is no data in the combustion curves, and the combustion control will not allow the burner
to start. The technician must enable commission mode to enter data into the start positions and combustion curves.
Commission mode is entered from the main menu on the LCD screen. To enter commission mode, a qualied technician or
engineer must rst enter the appropriate password. See "Passwords" on page 3-45 if help is needed, and enter a password with a
minimum level of "Technician".
Now that the password is set, place the FlexFit in the commission mode. Navigate to Main Menu > Curve Commissioning and
set "Commission Mode" to ENABLED.
Curve Points
Combustion curve points can be preloaded at this time if the technician knows the approximate information beforehand. Ref-
erence the "Closed Limit" and "Open Limit" values recorded in the "Boiler Operating Data Sheet" after the seek limits procedure
earlier in this section. All values entered must fall inside these limits. Do not enter a value that is within 2 degrees, 2 percent, or 1 Hz
of the closed or open limits.
Preset or existing curve data can be revised from Main Menu > Curve Commissioning > Set Points by storing a new set of data
within ± 2 degrees of a previously entered fuel position. Points may also be deleted from the Delete Points menu. After the curve
data has been entered, the technician must verify safe and efcient burner operation at each entered fuel position before the burner
can operate in automatic by the combustion control system. This is accomplished in the Verify Points menu and will be performed in
section "Verifying Positions and Curve Points" below. The only point that does not need to be veried is Standby. The LCD screen
will prompt the technician when each point must be veried.
Note
U, D, and S indicators appear on some setup menus.
U – (Up) select the next point
D – (Down) select the previous point
S – (Store) record, verify, or delete the current point
Navigate to Main Menu > Curve Commissioning > Set Points > Set Purge. On this screen, you will see a list of servos, VSD or
analog outputs, and an S in the lower right corner. Next to each servo, VSD, or output is a number that represents the current output
to each device (degrees for servos, Hz for VSDs, O2% for O2 setpoints, and 0-100% for all other analog outputs). Use the button
sets to move the servos/outputs to their desired positions. When the desired values have been reached, press ENTER on the S to
save the values. Ensure the value shown for each device/output is exactly what is desired. Once S is pressed, all the values shown
are now saved for that point.
Repeat the paragraph above for the standby and ignition positions. Combustion curve points can also be preloaded at this time
if the technician knows the approximate information.
Starting the Burner
WARNING
It is the responsibility of the commissioning technician to verify that
all operating and safety limits are working and set correctly.
Turn on all burner switches and ensure the recycle limits are made to start the burner sequence. The FlexFit will perform a safe
start check and a servo check – also called the prestart. During the prestart, the servos will move to their minimum position and then
to their maximum position; the servo calibration data is conrmed. Also, at this time, after the non-recycling limit is proven open (if
applicable), the fans will start, and the non-recycling limits must make, or the LCD display will indicate "Hold". If they do not make
within "P1.2.8 HOLD Lockout Delay" seconds, the FlexFit will lockout.
Verifying Positions and Curve Points
Once the operating and safety limits are proven, all servos and VFDs will move to their previously congured purge positions.
The unselected fuel servo will move to its standby position. When the active servos and outputs are at their purge position, the LCD
display will read "Holding: Purge Position Unveried". Return to Main Menu > Curve Commissioning > Verify Points. Press ENTER
and the display located below S will read "Purge Position Veried".
Note
If power is cycled while
in commission mode,
the password changes
back to the "Operator"
level. An appropriate level
password will need to be
entered to resume work
in commission mode.
Hint
If curve points are entered
from the standby state,
the curve points will need
to be veried. However,
if the curve points are
entered while the burner is
running, the curve points
are considered veried
when they are entered.
