4.12.1 Setting Up a Client-to-Site VPN via IPsec
gateprotect Firewall can provide VPN access via IPsec, enabling remote client comput-
ers to connect securely to the internal network via the Internet.
IPsec connections can be operated in one of two modes depending on the client set-
tings:

In full tunnel mode, all traffic is routed through your gateprotect Firewall, including
communication with sites on the Internet.
●
In split tunnel mode, only communication between the client and the internal net-
work is routed through gateprotect Firewall. Clients will be able to reach devices on
the internal network through the tunnel. Packets intended for other destinations
(such as the Internet) will not be routed through gateprotect Firewall.
