Chapter 6: Maintenance and Adjustments
For routine maintenance and performance checks (flow cell bubble removal, flow cell washing, lamp
replacement, wavelength check, etc.), see the instruction manual.
When replacing parts due to instrument breakdown, replace the part using the entire assembly
(ASSY) as indicated in the Maintenance Parts List. Parts listed in the Maintenance Parts List are
maintained as standard stock.
CAUTION
Nearly all electric circuits in recent microcomputers are fabricated with minutely
detailed print patterns, thereby raising the level of integration. Accordingly, removal of
ICs, etc. without using specialized tools could result in destruction of these patterns.
For example, if an electrical line short circuits a signal line in a multilayer circuit board,
this will effectively cause breakdown of the entire instrument.
There are many areas of adjustment of the optical system that require experience.
Therefore, as much as possible, do not touch any parts except those necessary for
repair of the problem.
6.1 Preparations and Precautions
Warning
When performing adjustment of the optical axis, be sure to wear ultraviolet light
protective glasses.
Do not look at the ultraviolet light from the D2 lamp with the naked eye.
When performing adjustment of the optical axis, be sure to wear gloves.
CAUTION
Be careful to avoid scratching or contaminating mirrors, gratings, quartz plates,
lenses, PDA and other optical elements.
