Dirty optical
system.
Clean the flat mirror, the
two lenses and the illumi-
nation system using alco-
hol and optics leather.
Wrap the leather around
plastic tweezers.
Flat mirror
scratched or
damaged.
Change the flat mirror. To
do this, remove the rear
electrode, remove the old
mirror upwards and care-
fully fit the new mirror. Use
tweezers to hold the
sprung holding clamps to
one side while doing so.
Condensation on
optical system.
The fiber image
displayed is unclear
in one or two axes.
Prevent condensation by
placing the splicer prior to
use in a room which is not
too cold and leave the
electrode flap open for as
short a time as possible
during fusion.
Fiber end no
longer detected
as such by the
video system.
Fiber is extremely
dirty or cleaved ex-
tremely poorly.
Clean fiber or prepare fiber
again.
Auto Z
Fiber o.k.?
The fibers cannot
be positioned in
Z direction.
Check that the fibers
have been inserted
correctly and that
the slides can move
unhindered.
Put through the
piezo test (see page
7-9).
If the fault occurs again
despite the fibers being
inserted correctly, the
cause is a fault in the
electronics or mechanical
system which will need to
be corrected by the service
center.
