Chemical Indicator
WARNING
BIOHAZARD CONTROL
Use only BIs, CIs, BI Challenge Packs and other system accessories recommended by
STERIS as these items have been validated to assure proper functioning with this Low
Temperature Sterilization System. Ineffective Sterilization Cycle may not be detected
using other system accessories.
Use only Low Temperature Sterilization System validated CI following the CI Instructions For Use. The Celerity HP
Chemical Indicator or VERIFY HPU Chemical Indicator for this Sterilization Unit is a process indicator developed and
validated specifically for use in this Low Temperature Sterilization System’s Cycles. Both indicators meet the
requirements of ANSI/AAMI/ISO 11140-1 for Type 1 vaporized hydrogen peroxide sterilization indicators.
The indicators are used in each processing cycle to indicate vaporized hydrogen peroxide exposure during a Low
Temperature Sterilization System Sterilization Cycle.
Interpret the Chemical Indicator color change results using the CI Instructions For Use.
Loading Sterilization Chamber
Properly load the Sterilization Unit (see Figure 10-1) as described in Load Sterilization Unit. Ensure load has been
prepared properly as described in Packaging and Loading.
When loading chamber, note the following:
Do NOT stack trays.
If using pouches, these can either be placed on shelf alone or in an organizer.
Leave sufficient space around each item and chamber walls to ensure optimal diffusion of vapor throughout load.
Never place liquids, linen, powders, paper, towels, wood applicators or any other cellulosic material in Sterilizer.
Maximum allowable load per shelf is 42 lb (19 kg). Ensure loads placed into Sterilizer do not exceed stated weight,
packaging or lumens (number, size or type) depending on Sterilization Cycle chosen.
To reduce wear on sterile packaging, STERIS recommends to slide shelf out, place load on shelf, then slide shelf
and load back into chamber.
Only pouched items and trays are permitted in a Fast Non Lumen load.
