7) Measure the voltage between R and B lead wires
using the multi-circuit tester when shifting the
gearshift lever from low to top.
Special tool
(A): 09900–25008 (Multi-circuit tester set)
(B): 09900–25009 (Needle pointed probe
set)
Tester knob indication
Voltage ( )
Gear position switch voltage (Except neutral
position)
0.6 V and more ((+) R – (–) B)
8) Turn the ignition switch OFF.
9) Install the removed parts.

Removal
1) Drain engine oil.
2) Remove the right side cowling. Refer to “Exterior
Parts Removal and Installation in Section 9D
(Page 9D-14)”.
3) Remove the starter torque limiter cover (1).
4) Remove the gasket (2) and dowel pins.
5) Remove the starter torque limiter (3) and its shaft (4).
6) Remove the starter clutch cover (5).
7) Remove the gasket (6) and dowel pins.
8) Remove the wave washer (7), starter idle gear (8)
and its shaft (9).
