6-12 CYLINDER HEAD, CYLINDER AND PISTON
CYLINDER HEAD AND VALVE INSPECTION
VALVE DISASSEMBLY
• Remove the tappet 1 and shim 2 by fingers or magnetic
hand.

(Intake side)
• Install the sleeve protector a between the valve spring and
cylinder head.
• Using the special tools, compress the valve spring and
remove the two cotter halves 3 from the valve stem.


(Exhaust side)
• Install the sleeve protector b between the valve spring and
cylinder head.
• Using the special tools, compress the valve spring and
remove the two cotter halves 3 from the valve stem.


• Remove the valve spring retainer 4 and valve spring 5.
Identify the position of each removed part.
To prevent damage of the tappet sliding surface with
the special tool, use the sleeve protector a.
