Installing the PC Motherboard Serial Number
To install a serial number into the osc i l l osc ope do the following steps:
1. Connect a PC with a GPIB interface to the GPI B interface of the
oscilloscope.
WARNING. Make sure the unique identifie r does not end in all zeros before
generating or sett i ng the key.
2. Use the followi ng command to install the serial number (the actual serial
number should be in single quotes):
:HWAccountant:SERIAL ’serialNumber’
3. After sending this command, r e boot the instrument . After rebooti ng, a valid
unique ID (UID) is available .
Update/Restore the PC Motherboard CMOS
If the CMOS parameters bec om e cor r upt e d, restore the CMOS memory using the
following procedure:
CAUTION. Only install CMOS paramet e rs from Tektronix. CMOS parameters
from other manufacturers may make your oscilloscope inoperable.
1. Edit the autoexec.bat file.
2. Remove comments CMOS restore pa r a m e t e r s.
3. Boot the instrum e nt .
4. Reedit the a ut oe xe c .ba t file to re-comment the CMOS restore parameters.
If you cannot restore the CMOS memory, repl a c e the battery.
