3 OVERVIEW
The ECOTEL 3G Family provides a combined mobile and VoIP gateway solution for carrier networks and for corpo-
rate customers wanting to connect their PBX to mobile and VoIP services. This full-featured gateway can be added
to analog and IP environments in a cost-effective and convenient manner. The ECOTEL 3G Family converts fixed-
to-mobile into mobile-to-mobile calls, terminating calls to mobile networks at lower rates than possible via fixed-
net interconnection.
The ECOTEL 3G Family includes the following variations:

 ASCII (Western ISO 8559) to SMS has been converted to GSM character set
 Operating system is now NetBSD 5.0
3.1 NEW ACCESS GATEWAY PRODUCT NAMES STARTING VERSION 16.1
Starting from release 16.1., TELES is dividing it’s access gateway product portfolio into VoIPBOX VoIP-ISDN gate-
ways, compact ECOTEL mobile radio gateways and flexibly configurable iGATE mobile radio gateway systems in a
19” chassis. The product names now clearly reflect the three different product lines. The following table lists the
old and new access gateway product names.
