Maintaining the MS on a Daily Basis

c. Slowly depress the syringe plunger to flush the solution through the sample transfer
line, sample tube, and spray insert.
d. Remove the syringe needle from the syringe adapter assembly.
Purging the Oil in the Forepump
The best time to purge (decontaminate) the oil is at the end of the working day after you flush
the inlet components. Daily purging of the oil removes water and other dissolved chemicals,
which can cause corrosion and decrease forepump performance over its lifetime.
Refer to the forepumps documentation. Make sure to close the purge valve before continuing
normal operation.
Emptying the Solvent Waste Container
Check the solvent level in the solvent waste container daily. If necessary, empty the container
and dispose of the solvent waste according to local and national regulations.
Placing the System in Standby Mode
After you complete the daily maintenance procedures, place the MS in standby mode as
described in Chapter 8, “Placing the MS in Standby Mode.
