Using the console port to connect serial devices
LEVANTO 441 TERMINAL SERVER
The three serial ports (number 2, 3 and 4) on Levanto 441, are used to connect as many RS232
terminals and perform Terminal Server functions. Each port has TCP/IP socket: the received data on
that socket is sent to the corresponding serial port and vice versa.
Depending on the socket port used for the connection, the data can be sent on the serial port in
Transparent mode or using the Reverse Telnet protocol.
For example, the Transparent mode is used for telecontrol or remote monitoring of remote device
like RTU, SCADA, etc. The Reverse Telnet protocol is used to remotely access a router or a switch
via console port linked to Levanto.
TRANSPARENT MODE
To use this modality, see below for the TCP – serial port correspondence.
REVERSE TELNET
To use this modality, see below for the TCP – serial port correspondence.
Below you find the description of the availavle command. The command
set ttyaux speed <value>
allows to modify the transmission speed of the serial ports. Default value is 9600.
set ttyaux base-raw-port VALUE
defines the socket value for port 2 in Transparent mode, so the correspondence table will be:
set ttyaux base-cook-port VALUE
defines the socket value for port 2 in Reverse Telnet mode, so the correspondence table will be:
