Multicast routing protocol
USER GUIDE
228
The IGMP Report packets are sent specifying as destination address the group itself. It is possible to
send them to a specific address by using the command:
set igmp-proxy directive helper-address a.b.c.d
In order to activate igmp-proxy functions the command is:
set igmp-proxy on
Through the command:
set igmp-proxy off
the service is interrupted.
The activation command has no effect on the router configuration, i.e. the service will not be
automatically activated at the next reboot. It must be used together with trigger or autocmd
commands. For example, in order to activate the service when the ADSL connection is activated the
command is:
set trigger adsl up set igmp-proxy on
Or to activate it at start-up of the router the command is:
set autocmd set igmp-proxy on.
For example:
set igmp-proxy upstream tun0 ratelimit 0 threshold 1
set igmp-proxy altnet 10.184.23.0/24
set igmp-proxy downstream eth1
set igmp-proxy on
Multicast traffic comes from the tunnel tun0, with source 10.84.23.0/24. In addition to the
network associated with the tunnel it is also rerouted on the eth1 interface.
It is possible to make a static join to a multicast group by using the command:
igmp-join <mc group> [ifname]
In order to execute a leave from the group the command is:
igmp-leave <mc group>
STATIC MULTICAST ROUTING
In addition to Multicast dynamic routing protocols, it is possible to carry out rules for static routing.
The configuration of Multicast static routing routes includes the following commands:
set multicast-static-join <input-interface> <group-addr>
set multicast-static-group <in-ifname> <src-addr> <group-addr> <out-ifname>
the first one adds a join group to the specified interface, the second one adds a static route for
multicast messages in order that messages received from the <in-ifname> interface and addressed
to multicast group <roup-addr> are also propagated on <out-ifname> interface.
In order to remove both the static join and the static routes the commands are:
set no-multicast-static-join ….
