Trigger event handling and activation
USER GUIDE
342
It is possible to activate the execution of a CLI command according to the availability of the GRE
tunnel
18
interface. For example, if at the moment of activation of this tunnel the user wants to
activate a route which is necessary for communication, a trigger must be configured:
set trigger gre up ip route add 10.1.10.0/24 via 10.10.254.1
In the same way, when the GRE tunnel is deactivated, the user can cancel the route by using the
trigger:
set trigger gre down ip route del 10.1.10.0/24 via 10.10.254.1
Trigger functionality can be also used to program some actions related to traffic control event. In
this way, actions will be conditioned by input or output traffic on GPRS and ISDN interfaces.
In this case the commands are used together with set trigger gprs-tc command for the GPRS
interface and set trigger isdn-tc command for the ISDN one.
The following examples clarify this use.
set gprs traffic-control input-threshold 10000
set gprs traffic-control output-threshold 20000
set gprs traffic-control mode or
set gprs traffic-control timer-unit 60
set trigger gprs-tc up logger -h 192.168.2.1 GPRS Traffic is too High
set trigger gprs-tc down logger -h 192.168.2.1 GPRS Traffic is at normal rate
set trigger gprs on set gprs traffic-control on
set trigger gprs off set gprs traffic-control off
In the example above, traffic control begins with activation of the GPRS session and is deactivated
when the session ends.
10K for input traffic and 20K for output traffic are set as threshold values. A check is made every 60
seconds. If in 60 seconds, the input or the output traffic exceeds the threshold value, the command
specified by the trigger set gprs-tc up,which sends a log message to a specified host, will be
executed. Vice versa, if in 60 seconds the traffic is lower than the threshold value, the command
specified by the trigger set trigger gprs-tc down will be executed.
set isdn traffic-control input-threshold 60000
set isdn traffic-control output-threshold 60000
set isdn traffic-control mode or
set isdn traffic-control timer-unit 10
set trigger isdn-tc up isdnctrl addlink ippp1
set trigger isdn-tc down isdnctrl removelink ippp1
set trigger isdn on set isdn traffic-control on
set trigger isdn off set isdn traffic-control off
In the example above the traffic control begins when the GPRS session is activated and is
deactivated when the session ends.
60Kbyte is set for both input and output traffic as threshold value. A check is made every 10
seconds. If in 10 seconds input or output traffic exceeds the threshold value, the command

Availability of the GRE tunnel is checked if and only if, at the moment of definition of the tunnel, the keep-alive mechanism has been configured.
