3.13.4 POW_LISTEN_HPA_MODE
Default 0, Range 0…3
Ver <= 31.0.1
Not Implemented.
Ver >= 31.1.0
HUB: Not Used.
RT: Enables LISTEN mode operation.
.Value Mnemonic Description
0 BUC_ON LISTEN mode is disabled. BUC is always ON.
1 BUC_REF
10 MHz reference to BUC is turned ON a short time (i.e.
MAC_TIMESLOT_MARGIN micro-sec) before packet is transmitted,
and it is turned OFF approximately 1 slot after sending is completed
– unless otherwise defined by
POW_LISTEN_HPA_OFF.
10 MHz settle time is defined to be 790 micro-sec for Zinwell 2W
Ku-band BUC – I.e. default
MAC_TIMESLOT_MARGIN = 3000 micro-
sec should be sufficient. However, due to processing delay jitter it is
recommended to increase the margin to 5000 micro-sec (when
POW_LISTEN_HPA_ON is zero).
2 BUC_POW
Power to BUC is turned ON some time (i.e.
POW_LISTEN_HPA_ON
ms) before packet is transmitted, and is turned OFF some time after
sending is completed (i.e.
POW_LISTEN_HPA_OFF ms).
Power settle time is defined to be 47.2 ms for Zinwell 2W Ku-band
BUC. Therefore, recommended value of
POW_LISTEN_HPA_ON is
50 ms.
Note: Turning Power ON/OFF could make disturbance to the
receiver and RT will normally receive 1 or 2 CRC errors when
Power is turned ON. Sometimes, also a single CRC error when
Power is turned OFF. Such CRC errors will not
be reported as
WARNINGs (when bit 5 – 0x20 in
UTL_UTILITY_MASK is
enabled), but will be reported as MESSAGEs (when bit 5 – 0x20
in
UTL_DEBUG_MASK is enabled), and accumulated number of
CRC errors will also be reported to HUB / NMS.
3 BUC_REF_POW
Toggle both
10 MHz and Power to BUC.
• ON: Set Power ON – Wait 1 slot – Set 10 MHz ON,
• OFF:
Set 10 MHz OFF + Set Power OFF.
Note: When LISTEN mode is enabled, the RT will generate +6 dB noise at frequency
given by
PHL_TX_RT_ FREQUENCY +/– 1.5 x PHL_INBOUND_SYMBOL_RATE.
This will not make any problems for nearby TSAT carriers, but could perhaps disturb
other
nearby carriers.
Debugging:
Some debug information is issued when bit 9 (0x0200 -
DEBUG_RT_POWER_SAVE) in
UTL_DEBUG_MASK_B is enabled.
