TSAT 3000 - Telemetry and data transfer via SATellite
TSAT 3000 Configuration Parameter Description, January 2013 Page 64 of 124
3.9.6 MAC_SLOT_REQ_RSV
Default 0, Range 0…0xFFFF.FFFF
Ver <= 31.4.0
Not Used
Ver >= 31.5.0
MAC_SLOT_REQ_RSV controls the “Slot Request and Reservation” facility. This facility will
dynamically reserve Inbound slots to those RTs that (for a short or longer time) are in need of
higher inbound throughput.
The operation is very much like the 2100/50 implementation of this facility, and will also
function when 3000 modem is operating in 2150-Compatibility mode. You can apply default
configuration:
0 = disable
1 = enable
… or fine-tune operation by the bit-map configuration displayed next pages.
Operation
The facility is enabled when
MAC_SLOT_REQ_RSV is greater than zero.
When enabled on an RT
, it will signal a request for Inbound slots each time it’s sending an
Application- or Management-packet to the HUB, and it has more or equal
SRR_PACKETS
(default 1) number of packets waiting for satellite link transmission (in the Priority-
Transmission and Retransmission Queues). The
PORT_PRIORITY [n] defines the request-
priority for Application-packets, while
LCC_MANAGEMENT_PRIORITY (normally 7) apply for
Management-packets.
The RT will try to only
send in reserved slots when the “Wait for Reserved Slot” option is
enabled (
SSR_WAIT (default 4) greater than zero), and thereby decrease the probability of link-
collisions. In this case, a
SSR_WAIT second timer is started whenever an Application- or
Management-packet is sent, and as long as this timer is running, the RT will only send in slots
that are reserved to this RT.
RT Ver >= 31.7.1
The RT will always start
reserving slots when number of stored packets waiting for
transmission to HUB is greater or equal
SRR_PACKET (default 1). It wills continue reserving
slots as long as:
SRR_OPTION = 0 (default): … RT has something to send within the SRR_WAIT period.
SRR_OPTION = 1: …number of packets in transmission queue is greater or equal
SRR_PACKETS – Same operation as older Releases.
HUB Ver >= 31.9.0
The facility must also be enabled by
SYS_LICENCE.
