Chapter 6: Treatment Planning
3. Click > Normalize.
Whenever lowering the dose levels in a dose distribution results in beam-on
fluence levels that drop below the minimum allowed beam-on time, the dose
i
s reoptimized without those beam-on segments.
Dose distributions normalized to a point are subject to statistical
fluctuations. These fluctuations on the
absolute dose volume are
minimized when the dose is normalized to a structure or a volume.
6.36.1 Fixed Conformal Beams
Each fixed conformal beam has one beam-on segment and one fixed shape with a uniform
fluence.
From the Do
se screen, specify a weight point for each fixed conformal beam based on either
the dose or percentage. Fixed conformal beam weighting percentages must add up to
100%
