2.5 Patient Transport Safety and Communication
2.5.1 Patient Transport System Safety
Collisions and injuries can occur when using the patient table. Observe all warning and safety
signs on the MRIdian system.
Follow these precautions:
Explain all the expected table movements to patients.
Ensure that there are no persons or objects which could collide with the
movement of the patient table top.
Ensure that the patient’s hair, hands, fingers, toes, linens, catheters, and
clothing do not hang off the patient table.
Make sure that IV tubes and MR coils do not hang over and that IV needles
remain in the patient during table movement.
In case of hazardous conditions, press the E-Stop button to stop couch
movement.
Monitor the patient visually and listen with the Intercom system for any sign
of patient distress.
2.5.2 Patient Alert for Patient-Initiated Communication
Patients may use the patient alert to initiate a visual or auditory alert. The visual alert
is an LED display on the intercom. The auditory alert is a activated by a squeeze bulb.
There are two types of auditory alerts:
A continuous tone over the intercom
A brief feedback signal via the patient’s headset and wall speaker
