Chapter 12: Receive Coils
12.6 Cleaning
It is recommended to clean coil surfaces between uses. The coil and accessories may
be cleaned with CaviCide spray or towelettes.
DO NOT pour any cleaning solution directly on the coil or accessories.
Coils must be disconnected from the MRI scanner before coil cleaning.
Wipe off any dirt on the coil surface using a dry cloth.
If dirt is difficult to remove, clean according to the manufacturer's procedures below:
Pre-cleaning Steps
1. Wet all surfaces with CaviCide (using spray applicator or using towelettes for
certain surfaces such as those close to electrical contacts). Ensure surfaces are
visibly wet and remain wetted for a minimum of 30 seconds.
2. Use a soft nylon bristle brush and/or additional cleaner to loosen hardened or
difficult-to-remove debris. Apply additional cleaner (use spray applicator or use
towelettes for surfaces that are close to electrical contacts) to areas subjected to
any previous brushing or wiping. Ensure these previously brushed or wiped areas
remain visibly wetted with cleaner for a minimum of 30 seconds.
3. Wipe surfaces with clean paper towels to remove debris.
4. Discard used brushes, used cleaner towelettes and used paper towels.
5. If debris remains on the surfaces, repeat pre-cleaning steps.
Cleaning Steps
1. Apply CaviCide (using spray applicator or using towelettes for certain surfaces such
as those close to electrical contacts) directly to pre-cleaned surfaces and ensure all
surfaces are wet and remain wetted for a minimum of two (2) minutes.
2. Wipe with clean paper towels to remove residual cleaner.
3. Discard used towels according to your facility’s Universal Precautions.
4. Allow coil and accessories to dry before use.
12.7 Service
The coils do not require any routine maintenance or service. If service is required, ViewRay
Service Personnel are to be notified. The coil assembly half is field replaceable if needed.
