Chapter 2: Safety Information and
2.4 Treatment Room Safety
2.4.1 Slipping and Falling Hazards
Clean up all spills from the floor and the patient table before allowing
another patient to enter the treatment room. Make sure the floor is
c
ompletely dry before admitting another patient to the treatment
room.
Follow your facilitys Infections Control and Universal Precautions.
Make sure all cables and hoses are routed out of all pathways in the treatment room so they
will not
cause a patient or healthcare worker to trip and fall.
2.4.2 Pinch Points
Pinch points created by manual and automatic movement of the
patient couch may cause serious injury.
Before and during movement of the patient couch ensure the operators and patients hands,
fing
ers, toes, linens, clothing, catheters, etc., stay clear of all moving parts, especially
between tabletop and tunnel aperture (bore).
Ensure that patients keep their arms and hands close to their bodies to avoid a pinch point
betw
een the table beam (surface the couch rolls on) and patient couch.
