8.5.3 Homing problem (RK4004)
Problem:
The PLC sends a home command to VVS but does not receive a homing ready status
back.
Cause:
When VVS receives a home command from the PLC, VVS will send a home command to
the actuator controller. VVS will then wait on the homing ready status from the actuator
controller. As soon as this status is received, the homing ready will be resent to the PLC.
However due to a software bug in the RK4004, the homing is sometimes not performed. In
addition if the supply voltage of the RK4004 is lower than 20 Volts, the actuator controller
will reset. When the actuator controller resets, it will have difficulties perform a homing.
Solution:
Make sure you have the latest VVS version. Make sure the Actuator controller has a supply
voltage of 24 Volts. In case you have an RK4004 actuator controller, check the software
version of the actuator controller. The latest software version for the RK4004 is
RK4004-0003f_zs (dated 12102006). Controllers (RK4004) delivered after
12 October 2006 include automatically the latest software version.
8.5.4 Actuator RK4004 is not guiding breaker material
(Although homing and jogging functions are working correctly)
Problem:
The actuator is still not guiding the breaker material, after several actions have been
undertaken in order to exclude actuator malfunction.
The supply voltage of the actuator has been checked (24 Volts).
Several actuator calibrations have been performed with success (the calibration is
checked using the zero offset).
Cause:
Watchdog is not sending messages.
Description:
When VVS starts a centering cycle, the actuator controller is set to automatic mode. When
the controller is in automatic mode it expects a watchdog message from the camera. When
this watchdog message is not received for more than 4 seconds the actuator goes into
blocking mode. In addition also the status of the message is checked. If the camera status
is not 'sensor ok', the actuator goes into blocking mode.
Solution:
Check the camera error code.
The error code will indicated that the camera was not calibrated (error code 120).
After camera calibration the error code will indicate normal operation (error code 20) and
the actuator guiding is resumed. Details about the error codes used by the camera can be
found in the Erhardt+Leimer documentation.
