Setting Upper and Lower EtCO
2
Limits
Initially, the EtCO2 Alarm menu specifies that the EtCO
2
alarms are enabled (ON) or disabled
(
OFF), and displays the default Upper and Lower EtCO
2
Limits. The upper and lower limits can
be
ON or OFF (default is OFF). The following table lists the default EtCO
2
limits for adult,
pediatric, and neonate patients, and gives the range in which you can set these limits:
Caution In high-altitude environments, EtCO
2
values may be lower than values observed at sea level, as
described by Dalton’s law of partial pressures. When using the X Series unit in high-altitude
environments, it is advisable to adjust EtCO
2
alarm settings accordingly.
Setting Upper FiCO
2
Limits
Initially, the FiCO2 Alarm menu specifies that the FiCO
2
alarms are enabled (ON) or disabled
(
OFF), and displays the default upper limit. The upper limit can be ON or OFF (default is OFF).
The following table lists the default FiCO

upper limits for adult, pediatric, and neonate
patients, and gives the range in which you can set these limits:
