Setting CO
2
and Respiration Rate Alarms
The X Series unit sounds alarms whenever measurements are outside set limits for the
following:
• High and Low EtCO
2
• High and Low Respiration Rate (in Breaths/Minute)
• High FiCO
2
• No Breath Alarm
Note: Use the Resp Parameter Control Panel to set the duration of the No Breath Alarm, or to
disable it (see “Using the Resp Parameter Control Panel” on page 7-4).
Enabling/Disabling Alarms and Setting CO
2
Alarm Limits
You can enable (or disable) CO
2
alarms and set upper and lower alarm limits through the
Alarms quick access key ( ) or the CO2 Parameter Control Panel.
To configure CO
2
alarms through the Alarms quick access key:
1. Press the More quick access key ( ).
2. Press .
3. Press the Limits quick access key ( ).
4. Use the navigation buttons to select appropriate alarm menu. For CO
2
, the alarm menus are:
EtCO2 Alarm, FiCO2 Alarm, or RR/BR Alarm.
5. On the alarm settings menu, use the navigation keys to select the fields that you want to
change. The fields are
• Upper Limit Enable
• Lower Limit Enable (only EtCO2 and RR/BR Alarms)
• Upper Limit
• Lower Limit (only EtCO2 and RR/BR Alarms)
6. When you are finished changing values on the alarm menu, select the Backarrow key to exit
the menu.
