Portmirroringisusedtomirrordatapacketsoftheswitchport
(ingressmirroringport)toaningressdestinationport(ingress
monitoringport),ormirrorthedatapacketsoftheswitchport
(egressmirroringport)toanegressdestinationport(egressmon-
itoringport).
Byusingmirroring,datapacketsowinginoroutofacertainport
canbemonitored.Portmirroringprovidesaneffectivetoolforthe
maintenanceandmonitoringoftheswitch.
Switchcanbeconguredwithonlyoneingressmonitoringportand
oneegressmonitoringport.Ingressmonitoringportandegress
monitoringportcanbeconguredonthesameport.Whereas
multiplesourceingressmonitoringportsandsourceegressmoni-
toringportscanbeconguredatthesametime.
Note:
Indefaultcase,switchdoesnothavemirroringportormonitoring
port.Thecorrectdatapacketsreceivedbyingressmirroringport
aremirroredontothemonitoringports,butdatapacketsdirectly
discardedontheingressport(forexample,becauseofCRCerrors)
arenotmirrored.
