Singleportloopdetectionistocheckwhetheraloopexistsinthe
portsoftheswitch.Ifsuchaloopexists,itmayresultinerrorsin
learningMACaddressesandmayeasilycauseabroadcaststorm.
Inseverecase,switchandnetworkmaybedown.Startingthe
singleportloopdetectionanddisablingtheportwithloopcanef-
cientlyavoidtheinuencecausedbyportloop.
Theswitchsendsatestpacketthroughaport.Ifthistestpacket
isreceivedthroughtheportwithoutanychange(oronlyatagis
attached),itindicatesthataloopexistsinthisport.
Thetestpacketsentbytheswitchincludesthefollowingthree
