Point of Sale Overview
This overview is divided into 2 sections to give you some background information
before you begin using Point of Sale:
Objectives for POS Helps you understand the objective of the Point of Sale
module and the tasks necessary for setting it up properly.
Sales Files Shows you the files used during Point of Sale.
Objectives for POS
Obtain 90% accuracy in using correct item numbers in processing quotes,
orders, invoices, and returns. Also use the features built in to Point of Sale that
best fit your needs and requirements of processing POS transactions.
In order to achieve this general objective, you must accomplish specific tasks in a
logical order. A little planning now will pay off down the road.
The major tasks to getting POS running are loading customer data, loading
inventory data, and setting up the options in the Variable File which affect Point
of Sale. Each task breaks down into smaller projects. Following is an outline of
the tasks. You will find more detailed instructions later in this section.
1 LOADING CUSTOMER DATA
¾ GETTING A/R STARTED
Use Chapter 4, Accounts Receivable, to set up the Accounts Receivable
system.
2 LOADING INVENTORY DATA
¾ GETTING INVENTORY STARTED
Use Chapter 5, Inventory, to set up the inventory system.
