Function Key Setup
You can define function keys F5 through F32 from the keyboard. F1 through
F4 are reserved for Dimensions’ use and must not be changed. F17 through
F32 are selected when the respective key (F1 through F16) is pressed with
the Shift key.
The first step before attempting to set up a function key is to sit down at a
terminal in the program you are going to use. Enter the data as you
normally would, however, write down
every keystroke. Do not assume the
computer knows what you are entering.
Once you have written down each keystroke, check it using the program
again. Once this is correct, use the following steps to set up the function
keys.
1 Press the Ctrl key and Def F simultaneously.

DEF F: appears at the bottom of the screen. Enter a two-digit number (05
through 32) of the function key you wish to enter. Press Send.
) NOTE: Do not use 01-04. They are reserved for Dimensions’ use.
3 Enter the appropriate data that you obtained above. It will be displayed in a
line at the bottom of the screen. Use the following table for special
characters:

You are limited to a maximum of 512 characters for all function keys
combined. If you wish to clear the current set up for the selected function
key, press Clear.
4 Check your entries. If you need to make corrections, back up with the back
arrow and enter the data again. Press Send to store the redefined function
key. Or if you do not wish to save it press Ctrl and Def F.
5 If you want to set up another function key, enter a two-digit function key
number at
DEF F:. Repeat Steps 2-4. If you do not wish to set up more
function keys, press Ctrl and Def F when the screen displays
DEF F:. You are
returned to normal terminal operation.
6 Go to the test company and test your new function key settings before using
them in your live data.
