G/L Master File (GM1.D) Fields:
1. Control # 1. The control number separates companies
(business entities that do not share financial
statements). If you have more than one
company
(as opposed to stores), each company would have
its own chart of accounts with different control
numbers. If you have multiple stores that will
post to a central General Ledger, use the same
control number for each account but separate the
stores using the account number. See
G/L Account
No
below.
2. Enter the control number for this account (usually
1).
2. G/L Account No 1. There can be up to 20999999.99 G/L account
numbers, having up to 8 digits before the decimal
point and 2 digits after it.
2. If you have multiple stores, you can use the last
two digits of the account number for the store
number. For example:
1110.01 Petty Cash Store 1
1110.02 Petty Cash Store 2
etc.
3. Type (1=In/Exp 2+As/Liab) Enter 1 if the account is to appear on the P&L (an
income or expense) or 2 if it is to appear on the
Balance Sheet (an asset or liability).
