Appendix A
Function Key Setup
The first step before attempting to set up a function key is to sit down at a
terminal in the program you are going to use. Enter the data as you
normally would, however, write down
every keystroke. Do not assume the
computer knows what you are entering.
Once you have written down each keystroke, check it using the program
again. Once this is correct, use the following steps to set up the function
keys.
1 Press the Shift key and Set Up simultaneously.
2 Press F11 to take you to the function keys (fkeys).
3
F1= appears in the middle of the screen. This is for the F1 function key. Do
not program the F1 function key. It is used in SDEDIT and EDIT and cannot
be used for anything else. Press CTRL and the function key you wish to
define (F2 through F16). For example, if you want to define F11, press
CTRL and F11 simultaneously.
4 Enter the appropriate data that you obtained above. Use the following table
for special characters:
To enter:
Hold down the Ctrl key and press:
Enter / <CR> M
Esc [ (left bracket)
Tab I
Up arrow ()
K
You are limited to a maximum of 64 characters for each function key.
5 Check your entries. If you need to make corrections, use the arrow keys to
backup and re-enter the data. Check your entry again!
6 If you want to program another function key, press CTRL and the function
key you want to set up. Enter the appropriate data. If you do not wish to set
up more function keys, press Shift and Set Up.
7 The computer asks
SAVE? Press the Space Bar to change the displayed
response to All.
8 Press F12 to exit.
9 Go to the play company and test your new function key settings before using
them in your live data.
