Appendix A
Function Key Setup
The first step before attempting to set up a function key is to sit down at a
terminal in the program you are going to use. Enter the data as you
normally would, however, write down
every keystroke. Do not assume the
computer knows what you are entering.
Once you have written down each keystroke, check it using the program
again. Once this is correct, use the following steps to set up the function
keys.
1 Press Ctrl-Scroll Lock. This enters the set up mode.
2 Press F12 to select
Prog to program function keys.
3 Make sure that the parameter
Program is either F/Key or Sh-F/Key. (Use the
arrow keys to move the highlighted selection bar to
Program then press Enter
to cycle through the choices.)
4 Go to
Choices toward the bottom of the screen. Select the function key you
wish to program by pressing Enter.
) NOTE: Do not use 01-04. They are reserved for Dimensions’ use.
5 Go to the Text area and enter the appropriate data that you obtained above.
Use the following table for special characters:

6 Check your entries.
7 If you want to set up another function key, go to
Choices and select the next
function key to program. Repeat Steps 5 and 6. If you do not wish to set up
more function keys, press Ctrl-Scroll Lock. The computer asks
Save All (Y/N).
Enter Y to exit setup and save all settings. Or enter C to cancel the exit
request. You are returned to normal terminal operation.
8 Go to the test company and test your new function key settings before using
them in your live data.
