Two Port Insertion Loss Measurement
Two Port Insertion Loss Measurement Description
This Two Port Insertion Loss measurement characterizes the gain or loss of active devices
such as amplifiers and passive devices such as filters, attenuators, and cables over a
specified frequency range.
Insertion loss measurements are important in accurately quantifying the amount of gain
or loss a signal will incur as it passes through the device. In S-parameter terms, insertion
loss is referred to as an S21 measurement. “S” stands for scattering.
To configure measurement settings, select
Two Port Insertion Loss and then press Meas
Setup
. Pressing Control/Sweep enables you to restart a measurement, refer to
“Control/Sweep” on page 98.
Remote Measurement Results
To get the results of the measurement remotely, the desired measurement has to be
configured, initiated and then the measurement results can be queried using the
CALCulate:DATA? command.
Example:
:INSTrument:SELect SR
:CONFigure:TPILoss
INITiate:IMMediate
*OPC?
CALCulate:DATA?
If you execute the remote command CALCulate:DATA? when the Two Port Insertion Loss
measurement is active, the query will return 532 comma-separated scalar results in the
following order:
