Chapter 3 165
Mode
Two Port Insertion Loss Measurement
Mode
Off Turns averaging functions off.
Exponential Sets the
Averaging function to exponential. With exponential averaging mode,
each successive data acquisition is exponentially weighted and combined with the existing
average. This weights new data more than the old data, which facilitates tracking of slow
changing signals.
Repeat Sets
Avg Mode to the repeat function. Repeat averaging updates the trace after the
selected number of sweeps has been averaged. It is not updated again until the next set of
data from “Average Number” sweeps has been collected.
Max Hold In
Max Hold the analyzer maintains and displays a max hold trace, which
represents the maximum data value on a point-by-point basis of the new trace data and
previous trace data. Pressing the
Max Hold key for the selected trace sets the trace type to
Max Hold, causes the trace to be cleared and causes the Max Hold sequence to be restarted.
Repeat Max Hold Sets
Avg Mode to repeat with max hold function. Repeat with max hold
captures and holds the highest magnitude data at the end of each sweep count. Repeat
with max hold updates the trace after the selected number of sweeps has been made. It is
not updated again until the next set of data from “Average Count” sweeps has been
collected.
